Recreating a favorite sushi order, this dish features seared ahi tuna served on a mixed green sesame ginger salad, topped with crispy onions. It's simple yet packed with flavor, making it a perfect weekday dinner idea.
Add tuna to a large bowl or tupperware and pour over ponzu sauce. Allow fish to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to an hour, flipping midway if necessary.
To make the dressing, combine ginger, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and sesame seeds in a small bowl and whisk well to combine.
To make crispy onions, heat two inches of avocado oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add shallots and fry until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and season with salt.
Discard most of the oil from the pan and return to medium-high heat with a little oil left. Sear the tuna for 1-2 minutes on each side until a light char appears.
Remove the tuna from the heat and slice against the grain.
Add lettuce to a large bowl and toss with dressing. Transfer to a serving dish, then top with seared ahi and crispy onions.
